Project Tendering

Designed To a Tee

Initial Consultation & Project Planning

Assessment

Client Consultation: The design-build contractor meets with the client to understand their specific needs, goals, and budget for the HVAC system.

Site Evaluation: Conducting a thorough site evaluation to gather data on the building’s layout, existing systems, and environmental conditions.

Preliminary Design

Conceptual Design: Developing initial design concepts that outline the basic approach to the HVAC system, including potential equipment, zoning, and control strategies.

Feasibility Studies: Performing feasibility studies to assess the practicality and cost-effectiveness of different design options.

Design Phase

Detailed Design

Load Calculations: Conducting precise load calculations to determine the heating and cooling requirements for different areas of the building.

System Selection: Choosing the appropriate HVAC equipment (e.g., chillers, boilers, heat pumps) based on load calculations, efficiency goals, and client preferences.

Duct and Piping Design: Designing the ductwork and piping layouts to ensure efficient air and fluid distribution throughout the building.

Control Systems: Designing the control systems, including thermostats, sensors, and building automation systems (BAS), to manage the HVAC operations efficiently.

Engineering Drawings

Blueprints: Creating detailed blueprints and schematics that illustrate the layout of HVAC components, ductwork, piping, and control systems.

Specifications: Developing detailed specifications for all equipment and materials to be used in the project.

Construction Phase

Procurement & Scheduling

Material Ordering: Ordering the necessary HVAC equipment, ductwork, and other materials specified in the design.

Project Scheduling: Creating a detailed project schedule that outlines the sequence of construction activities and milestones.

Installation

Equipment Installation: Installing HVAC units such as furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ventilation systems in accordance with the design.

Ductwork and Piping: Installing ductwork and piping as per the design specifications, ensuring proper insulation and leak-free connections.

Control Systems: Installing and configuring control systems to manage the HVAC operations effectively.

Quality Control

Inspections and Testing: Conducting regular inspections and testing during the installation process to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards.

Commissioning: Performing system commissioning to verify that the HVAC system operates correctly and efficiently, including calibration of control systems and balancing of air and fluid flows.

Post-Construction Phase

Training & Documentation

Client Training: Providing training to the client’s facility management team on the operation and maintenance of the new HVAC system.

Documentation: Delivering comprehensive documentation, including as-built drawings, equipment manuals, and maintenance schedules.
